The war in Vietnam loomed large in Terkel's radio program in the 1960s and 70s and he devoted dozens of programs to insightful conversations with many of the key figures who shaped the debate about the war including Father Daniel Berrigan, Daniel Ellsberg, Seymour Hersh, Ron Kovic and Senator Eugene McCarthy as well as returned soldiers, concerned citizens, Vietnamese artists and activists and even children and teenagers concerned about the war’s influence on American society and the world at large.
