    In her book, “Liberty Denied: The Current Rise of Censorship in America,” Donna Demac points out that we, as a society, are not as free as we think we are. Demac can’t understand why anyone would want to keep people from reading great pieces of literature. While some groups called certain books anti-Christian, Demac said no one has ever died from reading a four-letter word.

    Carcinogens, food dyes, food preservatives, pesticides, nitrates and chemicals used to make cosmetics are just a few things that cause cancer, according to Dr. Samuel Epstein. He explains that the public has the right to know what’s being put into our food and into everyday items that we use. One of his missions is to get labelling on packages changed to include more information so the public can be aware and forewarned of harmful ingredients that cause cancer.

    When asked what she thought of Dame Sybil Thorndike, British actress Joyce Grenfell said Dame Sybil has a great sense of discovery. The Grand Dame of the British Theatre, Dame Sybil Thorndike said the greatest thing that ever happened to her was George Bernard Shaw's "Saint Joan". Thorndike also spoke of her politics and of being anti-war. Frances Cucka said working with Dame Sybil Thorndike was an extraordinary experience. Cucka, voted one of the most promising actresses of the west, said she also learned to sing and to dance for future roles.
