Studs Terkel was fascinated by the evolution of dance in the 20th century. On his radio show choreographers and dancers such as Merce Cunningham, Agnes de Mille, Martha Graham, Robert Joffrey, Ruth Page, Sally Rand (the famous fan dancer from the 1933 World's Fair) and Maria Tallchief reflect on their art. Studs also devoted programs to dancers and ensembles from other traditions in Asia, Africa, South America and elsewhere.
