Synopsis
Maya Angelou discusses and reads from her autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”. She discusses her upbringing in Stamps, Arkansas and the influence her grandmother had in her life. The program begins with a clip from a previous interview with Angelou in 1970 where she recounts a time during her childhood spent at her grandmother’s general store. Angelou also reads her poem “When I Think About Myself”.
